  CHRISTMAS IN THE 1860'S AT
                          THE NATIONAL CIVIL WAR MUSEUM

Harrisburg, PA (November 14, 2007) - Will you be one of millions "shopping and dropping" on Black Friday this year?  How about a visit to The National Civil War Museum, where you can accomplish both shopping and a history lesson...all in one location!

The Victorian Dance Ensemble will be at the Museum from 10:00am-4:00pm on Friday, November 23, 2007 to demonstrate dances of the era.  Afterwards, visitors will be invited to learn a dance and join in the spirit of the season.  During the Civil War, balls were popular at Christmastime and were often used in the North and South as fundraisers for the war effort.

The Ensemble will also display original photographs, newspapers and Victorian jewelry from members' collections.  Other displays will include a gift box sent to soldiers by civilians and a period tabletop Christmas tree, with homemade ornaments.  Museum guests will also have an opportunity to try on reproduction Civil War era clothing.

In perfect time for the holiday season, the Museum will also offer discounts on memorial bricks.  Bricks, normally priced at $75, will be priced at the discounted rate of $65.  Commemorative bricks are a great way to honor a veteran or a loved one.  The Walk of Valor offers an opportunity for those to commemorative a relative who served in the Civil War.  The Friends Walkway offers an opportunity for those to honor a relative or friend.  Many honor veterans of other wars, weddings and engagements or memories of loved ones.

Shopping Bonus Gift - Receive a hand-knit holiday stocking FREE in your choice of design:  Civil War Santa, Drum or Bugle with a $50.00 purchase (a value of $40.00-$50.00)!  Quantities are limited!
