Dance
Classes To Be Held At Museum
Harrisburg,
PA (January 5, 2007) The Victorian Dance Ensemble will offer a series of
Civil War dance instructions beginning on Sunday, January 28 at 2:00pm at
The National Civil War Museum.
The
session will introduce anyone interested in vintage dancing to the most
common dances of the 1860s. In keeping with the custom of the time,
most of the dances will be in formations of lines, circles and
squares. This instruction is ideal for teachers who want to bring
history to life and for families looking for a fun activity.
"All you need to know to do most of these dances is how to walk, how
to count to eight, and know your left from your right." said Annette
Keener-Farley, president of the Ensemble.
Dances will include quadrilles, reels, schottisches, and
waltzes. Additional classes will be held on February 25 and March
11; participants may attend one or all of the sessions. Attendees
should wear modern comfortable clothing and shoes, and be prepared to have
a good time!
The Victorian Dance Ensemble is
a nationally acclaimed organization that presents dance demonstrations,
conducts balls, and provides living history programs for museums and
historic sites. Each year, the Ensemble conducts a ball in the
rotunda of the Pennsylvania Capitol to raise money for the preservation of
monuments at Gettysburg.
The classes are free, but advance reservations are encouraged. Email
