SONY ELECTRONICS, INC. DONATES TWO 40" LCD SCREENS TO MUSEUM

Harrisburg, PA (January 3, 2007) Sony Electronics Inc., through the Sony Technology Center-Pittsburgh (STC-P), has generously donated two 40" LCD screens and two corresponding wall mounts to The National Civil War Museum, which are being installed at the Museum today.

The generous donation from Sony could not come at a better time for The National Civil War Museum.  A few of the existing displays in the Museum have been deteriorating, making it difficult for many visitors to concentrate on the rich content that is shown.  These screens portray two of the Museum's most important displays, where the famous historian Dr. James "Bud" Robertson enlightens visitors on significant battles that occurred during the Civil War.

"
The National Civil War Museum is truly a national treasure," said Charles L. Gregory, president of STC-P and deputy president of Sony Electronics' Television Operations of America.  "Each of the battlefields are fascinating and rich in history, but the National Civil War Museum is the single location that brings all aspects of the Civil War together."

Janice Mullin, Museum Director stated, "It is wonderful to see a company of Sony's stature that is willing to make such an important investment in the cultural sector and has shown support for this worthy cause.  We are extremely pleased to receive this much needed equipment, which we are sure will greatly improve the visitor experience.  As we are a national museum that has welcomed over 400,000 visitors in the past six years, there are a large number of people who will benefit from and appreciate this improvement.  We consider our visitors' experience to be of utmost importance for the Museum and are enormously thankful to Sony for making this desperately needed improvement a reality."

The National Civil War Museum is located at Reservoir Park in Harrisburg, is the only museum in the United States that portrays the entire story of the American Civil War.  Equally balanced presentations are humanistic in nature without bias to Union or Confederate causes.  For more information about the Museum, please call 717.260.1861, or visit the Museum’s website at www.nationalcivilwarmuseum.org.
